ABOUT

Vole Ballet School was founded in 2013 by Samantha Hood (ARAD, CBTS). Samantha wanted to provide a platform where strong technical training was at the forefront of the programs on offer at VBS.

'I have had a deep inset passion for Dance since as far back as I can remember. I have always dreamed of passing my knowledge on and inspiring the younger generations of dancers. Vole Ballet School was created to provide an environment where dancers can learn, create and evolve into the dancers of the future! Vole Ballet School was born in 2013 and has grown from strength to strength with dancers and dance families that share the same passion that I do! '

Samantha started Vole Ballet School in 2013 with 3 students at a local gym in the Dainfern area and soon saw the studio move to its permanent home at the Junction Centre Dainfern. Vole Ballet School, over the years, has grown into a formidable dance school offering Royal Academy of Dance ballet classes from Primary up to Advanced 2 level, Body Conditioning classes for all levels and contemporary classes.

Samantha believes in technical ballet training combined with a cross training program which consists of a strength and flexilbility training plan that not only increases fitness amongst the students but works specific muscle groups that enhance each students ballet technique. Samantha also believes in shared knowledge and has exposed the VBS students to industry leading guest teachers in a multiple of dance styles. Vole Ballet School hosts a semi professional production annually and offers Holiday Intensives and Masterclasses throughout the year.

Samantha Hood moved to the United Kingdom in July 2021 handing over the reigns to Shenell Petterson. Shenell joined the VBS team in 2017. At the time Vole Ballet School was running 3 studios at our Dainfern school and Samantha had taken on a multi-disciplinary studio in Pecanwood, Hartebeespoort. Shenell headed up the majority of the training at the Pecanwood studio. Samantha and Shenell grew in to a formidable team.

Vole Ballet School (VBS) provides multi-disciplinary training in classical ballet (RAD method) and contemporary dance for all ages ranging from 3 to 25. Beyond the School's emphasis on rigorous technique training, we strive to help our students develop their artistry through an annual studio production, holiday intensives and open classes by guest choreographers and trainers. VBS seeks to embed in its students the ability to distinguish for themselves and carry forward the best aspects of classical and contemporary dance into the future of their dance training.

At Vole Ballet School we believe that the best way to develop the dancers passion and ability in dance is to provide an expressive, safe environment where students can express their love for dance while developing the correct skill and training to pursue dance to the best of their ability.

Vole Ballet School offers a unique dance training program whereby our Graded and Vocational ballet classes have 6 slots available in each class. This allows our teachers to closely monitor progress and set individual goals for the dance year.

Students at Vole Ballet School are required to attend a body conditioning session once a week as well as their dance classes. This conditioning sessions allows the students the opportunity to fine tune their technical ability and muscle strength required for the correct ballet/dance technique. â€‹
